ActiveFX™ Laser Resurfacing

The UltraPulse Encore CO2 laser resurfacing device offers a new treatment, ActiveFX™, which is an “erbium-like” peel with reduced downtime. This treatment can improve mild cosmetic flaws more gently, providing the benefits of advanced technology without the prolonged healing times that are often associated with other CO2 laser treatments. If you have less photodamage, or desire a quicker recuperation, you may choose this ActiveFX™ treatment for a more “superficial” peel.

The ActiveFX™ treatment is used to eliminate evidence of sun damage such as wrinkles, discoloration, and improve depressions in skin due to acne scars. It provides a novel, less invasive approach for treating these skin conditions. ActiveFX™ is a fractional laser procedure performed which our plastic surgeons generally perform as part of facial surgery. You will begin to see your desired results after a healing time of about 5 days. Improvement in your skin’s tone and texture will continue to improve months after your treatment so long as you care for your skin properly, avoiding the harmful effects of sunlight and wearing sunscreen.

How it works

During the treatment, layers of your tissue will be removed to stimulate new collagen growth. This will also provide better elasticity and support for your skin. The ActiveFX™ treatment vaporizes water in your cells of the uppermost layer of your skin, revealing fresher, younger-looking skin.

The specific risks and suitability of the ActiveFX™ Laser treatment for a given individual are determined at the consultation. All procedures carry some degree of risk and minor complications. Major complications are rare.
