Breast Lift in San Diego
“Is a breast lift the right option for me?” If you’re considering breast lift surgery at La Jolla Cosmetic Surgery Centre in San Diego, CA, that question means several things to you. You want a “lift,” physically and emotionally. You want to improve the shape of your breasts and how you feel about your body. When you’re looking at your breasts, it’s normal to want them to look better in and out of clothing.
A breast lift is the most effective procedure to lift and reshape breasts that are sagging due to past pregnancy, genetics, weight gain/loss, or aging. Breast lift surgery may also be helpful to reduce a large or stretched nipple-areolar complex.

How Is a Breast Lift Performed?
The breast lift procedure is done on an outpatient basis while you are under sedation and either local or general anesthesia. Incision patterns vary but usually include one incision around the nipple-areolar complex and one in the crease under the breast.
The nipple-areolar complex is repositioned higher, excess skin is removed, and the breast is reshaped in a pleasing contour and position. The insertion of breast implants may or may not be advisable. Patients considering a breast lift should be at or near their goal weight. If you’re not at your ideal weight to have surgery safely, you may benefit from LJCSC’s medically assisted prescription weight loss programs using semaglutide.

Should I Include Breast Implants With My Lift?
If you’re like most women, you hope that your breast sagging can be solved with breast implants, but whether that’s possible or not depends upon the degree of sagging (ptosis).
You may be able to get the result you want with a breast lift with augmentation. Combining breast augmentation with a breast lift can fill in your extra skin, increase the fullness of your upper breasts and generally make your breasts higher and larger. If nipple height is involved, then some type of breast lift is usually necessary.
GalaFLEX® & Strattice™ Soft Tissue Support: Better, Longer-Lasting Results
At LJCSC, we use several surgical techniques and tools to give you the most satisfactory results possible. Depending on your needs, your plastic surgeon may use a soft tissue support matrix to enhance your results:
- GalaFLEX Soft Tissue Support: A strong, flexible sheet that adds immediate support and helps thin or weakened tissues grow back stronger and thicker.
- Strattice Reconstructive Matrix: A soft, natural product that reinforces weak tissue and supports your own tissue growth.
At your consultation, we’ll discuss the benefits of each option and whether one of them is right for you.
What Is Breast Lift Recovery Like?
Many people are pleasantly surprised that breast lift recovery isn’t as uncomfortable or lengthy as they might have assumed. That being said, you’ll definitely want to take it easy for the first days, after which point you can begin easing back into your normal, everyday activities.
You’ll most likely be able to return to work within 1 to 2 weeks, as long as your job doesn’t require lifting or strenuous activity. You will need some help taking care of smaller children during your initial recovery period, as you will need to refrain from lifting and straining for about 4 weeks in most cases. Your surgeon will let you know when it’s okay to resume physical activities.

Learn How We're Keeping You SafeWhat Do Breast Lift Scars Look Like?
Your breast lift scars will be below the nipple or under the breast crease, so they are well-hidden by a bikini top. Also, scars will fade to fine lines during the months after surgery. You can help minimize the appearance of your scars with self-massage (your surgeon or nurse will show you the correct technique) and topical scar-minimizing products.
To further enhance your cosmetic results, our board-certified plastic surgeons specialize in fat transfer with nanofat, a more refined version of your body fat that has notable regenerative properties. Fat grafting with nanofat is an excellent way to improve the appearance of scars.
