You may be a candidate for San Diego Hair Transplantation if you have areas of hair loss or balding but still have areas of normal hair growth to provide a source for the grafts. Hair Transplantation may also help people who have hair loss as a result of scarring from surgery, an accident, etc. The purpose of this procedure is to obtain hair growth in thin, balding or bald areas.
The procedure is performed by taking normal hair (usually from the back of the head above the neck) in a strip. Next, the strip is divided, under magnification, into grafts containing one or more hair follicles. These grafts are then inserted, one at a time, into a micro hole made in the grafted area. This is almost always true for patients with male pattern or female pattern hair loss.
Hair Transplantation is performed on an outpatient basis in our office under local anesthesia. The success of the hair growth can usually be judged at about 6 months and hair looks essentially normal at around 9 months.
The specific risks and suitability of Hair Transplants for a given individual are determined at the time of consultation. All procedures carry some degree of risk and minor complications that do not affect the outcome occur occasionally. Major complications are rare.
