Breast Lift in San Diego at La Jolla Cosmetic Surgery Centre
If you’re considering breast lift surgery, that question means several things to you. You want a “lift,” physically and emotionally. You want to improve the shape of your breasts and how you feel about your body. When you’re looking at your breasts, it’s normal to want them to look better in and out of clothing.
How do you know if you’re a candidate for a breast lift in San Diego?
Do you have sagging breasts due to past pregnancies, genetics, weight gain/loss or aging? These are the common reasons to consider breast lift. Breast lift surgery may also be helpful if your pigmented areas around your nipples (nipple-areolar complexes) are enlarged.
The breast lift procedure is intended to give you an elevated, more youthful breast contour, as well as nipple-areolar complexes of the desired size at the correct height.
How much does breast lift surgery cost in San Diego?
Breast lift prices vary, depending on the type of lift you will need. The typical price range for breast lift surgery at La Jolla Cosmetic Surgery Centre is $7,800–$9,200.
Will I need breast implants too?
If you’re like most women, you hope that the sagginess in your breasts can be solved with breast implants, but whether that’s possible or not depends upon the degree of sagging. You may find yourself considering a breast lift if your breast sagging is too great to be treated with an implant.
If you’re thinking about a breast lift, be ready to compromise. Depending on the degree of sagging (ptosis), you may be able to get the result you want with a breast augmentation with implants. For most women, however, breast augmentation alone cannot fill in your extra skin, increase the fullness of your upper breasts and generally make your breasts higher and larger. If nipple height is involved, then some type of breast lift is usually necessary.
The Breast Lift Procedure
The breast lift procedure is done on an outpatient basis under sedation and local or general anesthesia. The design of the incisions varies but usually include incisions around the nipple-areolar complex and in the crease under the breast. The nipple-areolar complex is repositioned higher, the excess skin is removed, and the breast is reshaped in a pleasing contour and in a more normal position. The insertion of breast implants may or may not be advisable.
Strattice Tissue Matrix for Breast Lift with Augmentation
For many patients, the same issues that make them perfect candidates for a breast lift with implants—sagging skin & a “deflated” look—also mean that the skin may be too thin or stretched to provide the implant with adequate support. But we’ve got a solution!
Our board certified plastic surgeons use Strattice™ Reconstructive Tissue Matrix to add support to your natural breast tissue, helping to ensure beautiful, natural results.
Recovery from breast lift surgery is reasonable for most patients. After a few days resting at home, you can begin easing back into daily life. Most likely, you’ll be able return to work within 1-2 weeks, as long as your job doesn’t require lifting or strenuous activity. You will need some help taking care of smaller children during your initial recovery period, as you will need to refrain from lifting and straining for about 4 weeks in most cases. Your surgeon will let you know when it’s okay to resume physical activities.
Breast lift surgery does result in some scarring, but these will be below the nipple or under the breast crease so they are well-hidden by a bikini top. Also, scars will fade to fine lines during the months after surgery. You can help to minimize the appearance of your scars with self-massage (your surgeon or nurse will show you the correct technique) and by applying topical scar minimizing products.
