The Cool Way to Reduce Fat
Zeltiq (pronounced Zel 'teek) Aesthetics, founded in 2005, is a science-based medical device company dedicated to the development of non-invasive procedures for the reduction of unwanted fat tissue. The Zeltiq approach utilizes a patented method called Cryolipolysis™ (the use of precisely controlled cooling to remove fat) that is designed to target only fat cells and not harm the skin or other tissue.
Cryolipolysis is the latest in a series of innovations from the Wellman Center for Photomedicine, Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. The initial cryolipolysis research and patents were originated at The Wellman Center by Dr. Dieter Manstein and Dr. R. Rox Anderson. Zeltiq has exclusive rights to this innovative new approach to removing fat.
The Zeltiq device is cleared by the FDA in the United States for various applications related to skin cooling during dermatologic treatments.
The Science of Cryolipolysis™
The science behind the Zeltiq™ Procedure is called Cryolipolysis™. This scientific principle was discovered by world-renowned dermatologists Dieter Manstein, MD, and R. Rox Anderson, MD, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA, a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School. Cryolipolysis is the non-invasive cooling of adipose tissue to induce lipolysis (the breaking down of fat cells) without damage to other tissue. The result is a noticeable, natural-looking fat reduction.
