How long is rhinoplasty recovery?

Recovery times vary depending on the technique. Most people return to work or school about 10 days after a surgical rhinoplasty.

Are rhinoplasty results permanent? 

Rhinoplasty results are long-lasting and generally considered permanent. Keep in mind that your nose may change slightly over time as you age, and that future damage from injuries or trauma may require additional surgeries to correct.

How old do you have to be to get a nose job?

You can have rhinoplasty done as soon as your features have finished developing. That’s typically around 15 or 16 for girls and 17 or 18 for boys.

Is getting a rhinoplasty painful?

No, rhinoplasty isn't as painful as many patients expect. It’s normal to feel nervous about having a procedure, but rest assured that our providers always have your comfort in mind. You’ll be placed under general or local anesthesia with sedation, so you won’t feel a thing. You’ll likely feel some soreness for a week or two following surgery, but most people find that prescribed medication and over-the-counter painkillers keep them comfortable.

How long does swelling last after a rhinoplasty?

Most swelling subsides in the first couple of weeks after surgery, but it’s normal for minor residual swelling to last 6 months to a year.

Can I preview what my nose will look like before my procedure? 

Yes, you can! As part of the consultation process, Dr. Riedler uses computer imaging to help you envision your new look so there’s no guesswork involved. Together, you’ll design your new nose from the front and in profile. That way, when it’s time for the big reveal, there are no surprises—just pure joy!
