Tired of looking tired? Meet the nonsurgical eyelid lift in a bottle: UPNEEQ, available at our San Diego medical spa. These little FDA-approved drops make a difference. You can go from perpetually looking worn out (no matter how many zzz’s you caught the night before) to taking on the world with a youthful, fresh expression that reflects how you really feel inside.
Read on to learn more about how UPNEEQ works, how much it costs, and whether it’s the right solution for you.
What Is UPNEEQ?
UPNEEQ is the only FDA-approved prescription eyedrop for droopy upper eyelids. It treats a condition called acquired ptosis, also known as acquired blepharoptosis or low-lying eyelids. This usually occurs when the muscles in the upper eyelid become weakened or stretched. While it’s common in older adults, it can happen at any age and for lots of different reasons—even regular contact lens wear.
How Does UPNEEQ Work?
UPNEEQ works by stimulating the Müller’s muscle in the upper eyelid, causing it to contract and lift the lid. The eyedrops contain a unique solution—oxymetazoline hydrochloride ophthalmic solution, to be exact. The solution triggers the eyelid’s involuntary muscle, exposing more of your iris to give your eyes a wider, more awake look.
How Do I Use UPNEEQ?
All you have to do is place a drop in each eye to look refreshed for the rest of the day. You can use it daily or whenever you need a little lift.
When Will I See Results With UPNEEQ & How Long Will Those Results Last?
You’ll start to see results in 15 minutes, with peak effectiveness at 2 hours. You can expect your results to last for 8 hours. Keep in mind your results may vary depending on how the product affects your eyelid muscles.
How Much Does UPNEEQ Cost?
The cost of UPNEEQ at our San Diego med spa is $225+. There is no sales tax, and the product is not returnable as it is a prescription-strength product.
How Do I Know Whether I Need UPNEEQ or Eyelid Surgery?
Your provider will determine the best treatment approach for you, but keep in mind that it’s not always an either/or situation. A blepharoplasty removes skin, but it doesn’t change the position of the eyelid. UPNEEQ works beautifully in concert with both blepharoplasty and BOTOX® Cosmetic to deliver total eye rejuvenation. (If you want to enhance your look even further, try LATISSE® for longer, fuller lashes!)
Are There Any Side Effects I Should Know About?
Side effects are rare—only 1% to 5% of people experienced any issues in clinical trials. The most common side effects include eye redness, irritation, dry eye, and headaches.
How Do I Get Started With UPNEEQ?
Your first step is to schedule a consultation with one of our helpful providers at La Jolla Cosmetic. If they determine you’re a good candidate, we’ll send you home with your prescription so you can start enjoying your refreshed new look.
