Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty) in San Diego
Do you see tired, drooping, or baggy eyes looking back at you in the mirror? Eyelid surgery can help you see the world with fresh eyes. Our board-certified plastic surgeons perform eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty or an eyelid lift, for San Diego men and women who want to look better for longer. This popular procedure gives you a brighter, more youthful expression by lifting droopy upper lids and smoothing bulges or bags in the lower lids. An eyelid lift can also be helpful if you have excess upper eyelid skin that interferes with vision (hooding) or if you have lost your natural upper eyelid crease.
Take years off your appearance and open your eyes to a whole new world of confidence. Your transformation is just a consultation away!

The cost of eyelid surgery at our San Diego practice is typically $7,000 to $12,500. Your exact price may vary depending on whether you choose to address the upper or lower eyelids or both. Get all the info you need about costs on our pricing page.

Is Eyelid Surgery Right for Me?
The eyes are one of the first parts of the face to convey aging, so eyelid surgery is one of the most popular facial rejuvenation procedures for both men and women. You may want to consider eyelid surgery if you have:
Drooping upper eyelid skin that may even interfere with your vision.
Puffy bags or pouches of fat in your lower eyelids.
Deep grooves or hollows below your eyes.
Can I Combine My Eyelid Lift With Other Procedures?
Many people combine eyelid surgery with other procedures for an even more rejuvenating result. Options often include:
During your consultation, your surgeon will talk with you about the improvements you’d like to make and develop a personalized surgical plan to get you there.
Are There Noninvasive Alternatives to Blepharoplasty Surgery?
People looking for alternatives to eyelid surgery may be candidates for one or more of the following nonsurgical treatments:
UPNEEQ® is a prescription eyedrop that provides a nonsurgical upper eyelid lift.
Dermal fillers like JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® can restore volume in the brow area to open the upper eye area, and fillers such as JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® can correct tear troughs to soften under-eye circles.
BOTOX® Cosmetic can provide a subtle brow lift by relaxing the muscles that pull down the outer corner of the eyebrow.
Your provider will help you determine your best treatment options during your consultation.

How Is Eyelid Surgery Performed?
Blepharoplasty is done on an outpatient basis at our AAAASF-accredited surgical suite. Your board-certified anesthesiologist will place you under either general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation to make sure you stay safe and comfortable.
Your board-certified plastic surgeon will make discreet incisions where the natural crease should be in the upper lids and below the lash line in the lower lids. He or she will remove excess fat and skin and adjust some of the underlying muscles to support a more youthful look for years to come. If only excess fat is present in the lower lids, your surgeon may remove it through an incision inside the lower lid with no external incision or scar (transconjunctival blepharoplasty).

Most people enjoy a quick and relatively comfortable recovery after eyelid surgery. While you’ll need to rest at home for 1 to 2 days, you’ll most likely be back to daily activities within 3 to 5 days.
Although you’ll look and feel “back to normal” in about 2 weeks, your body will continue to heal, so aerobic exercise and strenuous activity will be off-limits for several weeks after surgery. Your surgeon will give you thorough instructions regarding your individual recovery process.
