HALO™ Laser Treatment Before & After Photos
Keep in mind that each patient is unique and your results may vary.
Traditionally, lasers come in 2 options: ablative and non-ablative. HALO offers both options in a single pass, addressing both mild concerns in the epidermis (the top layer) and more severe skin issues in the dermis (the deeper layer) during the same treatment. This gives you more dramatic, comprehensive results and reduces your total downtime.
When you come in for a HALO treatment, our laser specialists fully customize your experience to address your unique skin concerns specifically. The HALO system determines the exact level of energy needed to safely and effectively treat your skin through intelligent energy delivery and Dynamic Thermal Optimization. The result? A safe and precise treatment and that evenly covers your targeted area.
Best in the Region, Best in the World 2020
LJC is your best choice for plastic surgery and med spa procedures in San Diego and around the globe.
The face is always the most common area of concern, but HALO also works beautifully on the neck, décolletage, and hands.
HALO is a great option for treating many different concerns related to sun damage, aging, or scarring.
Signs of Aging
Sun spots Rough texture Hyperpigmentation
Wrinkles and creases Age spots Uneven skin tone
Acne scars Chickenpox marks Scars from blemishes or injuries
It’s also the preferred treatment for removing textural pigmentation on the sides of the neck called “poikiloderma,” which is a common condition in our former sun worshippers here in Southern California.
What to Expect During Your HALO Treatment
Before treatment, our laser specialists will evaluate your skin to determine if HALO is the best option to meet your needs. If we move forward with treatment, here’s what you can expect:
Getting comfortable: We’ll apply a topical numbing agent to your skin to help manage any discomfort.
Customizing your settings: Your specialist will tune the HALO settings specifically to your skin type and needs, giving you a precise treatment that directly addresses your concerns.
Starting your treatment: You’ll experience a warming sensation as the laser is applied to your skin. This warming sensation typically lasts until 30 minutes after the treatment.
Keeping you cool: During your 30- to 40-minute treatment, we’ll use the HALO applicator and its integrated cooling system to monitor and control your skin’s temperature.
Protecting your skin: Once your treatment’s complete, we’ll apply a moisturizer and sunscreen.
If you’re looking for a little extra coverage before you leave our office, we can also apply our medically approved Oxygenetic makeup.
Enjoy Pain-Free HALO Laser Treatments With PRO-NOX™
You deserve a comfortable experience, so we now offer PRO-NOX as an add-on during laser treatments and other medical spa services.
What Is PRO-NOX?
PRO-NOX is a self-administered nitrous oxide (laughing gas) system that allows you to be in full control of your comfort. If at any point you feel you need something to take the edge off, simply breathe through the PRO-NOX mouthpiece for instant relief from pain and anxiety.
Unlike oral pain medication, PRO-NOX takes effect in seconds but wears off minutes after your treatment, leaving no trace of the chemical in your body. You can safely drive and return to your normal routine without worrying about side effects.
Ask us about adding PRO-NOX to your treatment at your consultation!
What Is HALO Laser Skin Resurfacing Recovery Like?
After your treatment, you’ll need to take special care of your skin. The first few days after treatment, your skin will feel warm and tight and have a slightly rough texture to the touch. Within a week, the roughened skin will flake lightly, revealing fresh new skin underneath. It’s important to avoid sun exposure and keep skin in the treatment area well-moisturized until you have fully healed.
How Soon Will I See Results After a HALO Treatment?
You may see results as soon as 7 days after your initial treatment. Most people see the greatest results in the first 2 to 3 weeks, but your skin will continue to improve for up to 2 months.
Your Safety Is Our #1 Priority

Q: What’s the difference between ablative and non-ablative lasers?
A: Ablative lasers work by removing outer layers of dull, damaged skin to reveal healthier skin underneath. This prompts your body’s natural healing response, triggering increased collagen production in the area. Ablative lasers are often used to successfully treat fine lines, acne scarring, and sun damage. Results are dramatic, but they often come with a longer recovery period and a few unwelcome side effects, such as swelling, redness, or changes in pigmentation.
Non-ablative lasers typically provide less dramatic and slower results, but they’re much less invasive. Non-ablative lasers heat up the tissue, but don’t destroy it. This stimulates collagen production to address minor skin concerns without removing the upper layer of skin. These lasers are a popular option for treating minor imperfections, light scarring, and fine lines, though multiple treatments are typically required.
HALO provides such impressive results because it combines the power of both ablative and non-ablative wavelengths.
Q: What does “hybrid fractional” really mean?
A: Hybrid fractional means that 2 different laser wavelengths (traditionally used separately) have been woven together to provide a synergistic result. With this combined approach, HALO offers beautiful results without the downtime of more aggressive treatments and without the necessity of multiple series of treatments.
Q: Why the name HALO?
A: The manufacturers of HALO laser chose the name HALO because of the distinct youthful glow people experienced after the treatment. Young, beautiful skin naturally reflects light, and HALO laser restores some of that youthful shine.
Q: How do I need to prepare for a HALO treatment?
A: As with any laser treatment, the most important thing to do in preparation is to avoid direct sun exposure. In some cases, prescription skin lighteners may be recommended by your clinician to prep your skin for 2 to 8 weeks before your treatment.
