Let’s be honest, when someone tells you, “Next, we’re going to take your before photos,” your brain might immediately jump to worst-case scenarios.
- “Do I have to pose?”
- “Is this going to be uncomfortable?”
- “Isn’t it going to feel weird to take my gown off?”
Totally normal thoughts. And here’s the truth most patients say afterward:
“That was… actually totally fine.”
A big reason for that is Amber.
She’s our medical photographer, and her entire job is to make sure you feel comfortable, respected, and guided every step of the way, whether you’re here for surgery or tracking your progress on the Signature Skinny Shot.
Here’s exactly how it works.
Before You Even Walk In, Everything Is Ready
By the time you arrive, Amber has already set up the room—lighting, camera angles, positioning—so nothing feels rushed or chaotic.
This consistency is important because it allows you and your plastic surgeon to see real changes over time. Same lighting, same angles, same setup. That’s how we get accurate, meaningful before-and-after comparisons.
A Friendly Hello (Not a Cold Hand-Off)
Amber comes to greet you personally and walks you to the photo room. This isn’t a silent escort or a “stand here and don’t move” situation.
She talks you through what’s about to happen, confirms which procedure you’re having (or whether these photos are for weight loss progress), and answers any quick questions you have.
Right away, most people realize:
“Okay. This feels normal. I’m fine.”

What to Know About Changing for Your Photos
Taking off the gown is the part people worry about the most, so let’s address it directly.
It is never scary. It is never rushed. And it’s never uncomfortable.
You’re in a private photo room with a professional whose entire focus is your comfort. Amber tells you exactly when and how to remove your gown, and she gives you clear instructions so there’s no awkward guessing.
You’re never left standing there wondering what to do.
Face vs. Body Photos: What’s Different?
For face photos, you’ll sit comfortably on a stool while looking at numbered markers placed at eye level around the photo room. Amber will guide you through each position, so you never have to guess where to look. These photos focus on facial angles and expressions only; your body will not be included.
For body photos, you’ll stand on a guide marked on the floor. Amber will ask you to rotate through specific positions to ensure consistency and accuracy between your before-and-after images. While your body positioning matters for these photos, your face will never be included.
In both cases, you’re guided the entire time. No posing experience required.
The Photos Themselves Are Quick and Judgment-Free
Amber will let you know exactly what she needs:
- “Turn slightly this way”
- “Stand here”
- “Relax your arms”
That’s it.
These photos aren’t about being flattering or perfect. They’re medical tools used to:
- Plan your procedure
- Track healing
- Show progress you might not notice day-to-day
If this is a pre-op appointment, your weight is also recorded—just one more helpful data point to support your care.
Can I Access My Photos After?
Once you’re done, Amber will ask if you’d like your photos sent to your email.
Many Signature Skinny Shot patients love this because it helps them see changes that don’t always show up on the scale. Surgery patients often appreciate seeing their before-and-after photos side by side. When you look in the mirror every day, changes can be hard to notice, even when they’re significant.
Where Will My Photos Be Used After?
After your photos are taken, you’ll be asked to complete a photo release form. This gives you full control over how your images are used.
You’ll have the option to allow your photos to be used for all marketing purposes—such as on our website, social media, and around the office—or to limit their use to internal purposes only, like during patient consultations. You may also choose not to allow your photos to be used at all.
Before-and-after photos can be incredibly helpful for other patients. They provide realistic examples of results, help set expectations, and allow patients to see outcomes on real people rather than stock images. That said, your comfort and privacy always come first, and your choice will be fully respected.
And Just Like That, You’re Done!
Amber walks you back to your room and you continue with your appointment.
That’s it. No awkward moments. No stress. No surprises.
Many patients tell us this ends up being one of the most empowering parts of their journey. Sometimes it’s the first moment they realize how far they’ve come.
If you’re nervous going in, that’s okay. You won’t be when you walk out.
