You may be a candidate for correction of deviated nasal septum (septoplasty) if you have nasal obstruction (difficulty breathing) because of developmental or post injury crookedness of the nasal septum (divider between the two sides of the nose). The intended result of septoplasty is a reduction of nasal obstruction and the ability to breath better.
This procedure is done on an outpatient basis under local or general anesthesia. The crooked cartilage is partially removed, straightened, or both.
